FARNBOROUGH — ATR aircraft has today announced another order for Day 3 of FIA18 with Columbian carrier EasyFly signing a Memorandum of Understanding for five ATR -600 series aircraft, three of which are the ATR72 and two of which being the 42.
EasyFly became an ATR operator in 2014 when they began to replace their fleet of Jetstream 41s.
The new 72-600s will aim to serve point-to-point operations from the city of Bucaramanga, a city that has one of the fastest developing economies in Columbia.
EasyFly President, Alfonso Avila, said:

ATR has reported that regional aviation has had a positive impact on economies around the world.
A 10% increase in flights leads to increases in tourism by 5% and 6% to regional GDP as well as 8% towards Foreign Direct Investment.
The manufacturer also predicted that they would need 3,000 turboprops over the next 20 years that will be operating more than 2,700 routes when they are created.

ATR currently offers a 40% fuel burn advantage and created 150 routes in 2017.
This is another significant order for the ATR program.
Even if they are small orders, they are key to being able to maintain production and incrementally make the backlogs longer, thus providing the jobs that the local communities need.
