LONDON – Today, Volotea (V7) announced new investments in Naples (NAP), as two Airbus A320s will be based in NAP, with a total capacity of 180 seats, allowing the low-cost carrier to expand its transport capacity.
The A320s’ arrival in NAP is part of V7’s growth strategy, which has recently become a 100% Airbus corporation.
In comparison to summer 2019 and 2020, the company, which will open one of its operational bases in Naples in 2020 and base two aircraft at the airport, will increase the number of seats available by 13% and 77%, respectively.
For Summer 2021, V7 announced a total of 23 routes in NAP, with 11 domestic (Alghero, Cagliari, Catania, Genoa, Lampedusa – fresh for 2021 – Olbia, Palermo, Turin, Trieste, Venice e Verona) and 12 international (Bordeaux, Marseille, Nantes, Toulouse in France, Kefalonia, Crete, Mykonos, Preveza Lefkada, Rhodes, Santorini, Skiathos, and Zakynthos).
Statement from Volotea
Carlos Muñoz, President and Founder of V7, said, “We are very excited to welcome these new aircraft that seal a further strengthening between V7, Naples, and the whole of Campania. We have agreed to open one of our bases at the Campania airport in 2020, and the arrival of these larger, more powerful, more environmentally friendly aircraft confirms our commitment to continue to invest locally, supporting the territory and its economic recovery, particularly during this difficult and unique time.”
Muñoz also said, “The start of operations with the new aircraft will allow us to add new routes to our offer in addition to allowing us to transport a larger number of passengers to even more distant destinations while ensuring convenience, protection, and quality service on board. The Airbus A320 is a fantastic aircraft that is very successful on the market and is perfect for our fleet’s long-term growth.”
