FARNBOROUGH — Vistara has today placed an order for 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, setting another order for the 787 program, which has already gained some success this week.
Vistara has ordered aircraft this week already, buying 50 A320neos from Airbus yesterday.
The 787 deal is valued at around $2.8 billion and offers six firm 787-9s with an additional four for options.
This will be the first time that an Indian carrier has received the -9 variant in the country, thus helping the Indian long-haul market grow even further.
With the distance of the -9 being able to fly from London to Perth on one fuel tank, it will be interesting to see what routes Vistara could potentially open up as a result of these deliveries.
The carrier is evidently prepping themselves to be growing exponentially, especially as the air travel industry in India is growing even further.
The Asian and Far East market is one of those that in the forecasts produced by Boeing, show a lot of demand for that sort of market and has the greatest share of the forecast overall.
It will be ultimately interesting to see which destinations will be served. As the deal was conducted privately, we will not know until the carrier actually announces it themselves.
