MIAMI — SWISS will be introducing its new fleet flagship, the Boeing 777-300ER, onto its services to Miami and San Francisco in the coming 2016-17 winter schedule.

The aircraft will be deployed for the first time from Zurich to Miami from October 30 onwards, in one of the two flights operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights to San Francisco will start on 16 February 2017, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

SWISS has taken delivery of six 777-300ERs in 2016. It has three more 777-300ERs on order, which will be delivered in 2017.

The incorporation of the 777-300ER to Miami will add extra capacity to cope with the demand during winter.

Before the end of 2016, Miami will welcome KLM with three weekly flights from Amsterdam, together with Meridiana, which will launch two weekly flights to Milan in December. Also, Icelandic carrier WOW Air has announced plans to start services from Keflavik to Miami in April 2017.

Besides the 777-300ER route upgrade, SWISS will also step up its weekly connections to Hamburg and Berlin (Germany), Cracow (Poland) and Belgrade (Serbia) in winter. Between 4 and 25 February 2017, SWISS will also offer new scheduled flights between Zurich, Sion (Switzerland) and London City (UK) to meet the demand during winter.
