LONDON – Qatar Airways has announced this week (Sept 5) that they will be launching flights to Da Nang, Vietnam from Doha. 

The service will commence on December 19, this year and will be the third Vietnamese city served by the airline.

The flights will operate on a four times weekly basis, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Equipment of choice will be the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, offering 22 seats in Business Class and 232 in Economy.

Qatar’s GCEO, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker commented on this new route.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of our newest gateway to Vietnam, the beautiful city of Da Nang.

This new direct route demonstrates our commitment to expanding our presence in the Far East, a highly-important market for Qatar Airways.

The inaugural flight will depart Doha at 0230 local, arriving into Da Nang at 1320 local, with the return departing at 1915 local, arriving back into Doha for 2345 local.

      • Depart 0715 local.
      • Arrive 1805 local.
    • Tuesdays and Thursdays
      • Depart 2010 local.
      • Arrive 0701 local next day.
  • Da Nang-Doha
    • Mondays and Saturdays
      • Depart 1935 local.
      • Arrive 0005 local next day.
    • Wednesdays and Fridays
      • Depart 0830 local.
      • Arrive 1300 local.

Qatar Airways began services to Vietnam in 2007 with flights to Ho Chi Minh City which operates on a 10 times per week basis. 

Three years later saw services to Hanoi launched in 2010, which now operates on a twice-daily service.

Qatar Airways’ partnership with VietJet offers smooth connectivity between Vietnam and the rest of the world.

On top of these plans, Qatar Airways is set to launch services to Gothenburg, Tallinn, and Valletta to name a few.

It will be interesting to see what other route developments are in store for the airline, especially as they want to hit their target of 250 destinations by 2022.

It is in the airline’s best interests to hit this target so then they can serve the vast majority of the globe before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is being hosted in Doha.
