LONDON – Qatar Airways has announced direct flights between Doha and Mombasa, Kenya from December 11 this year.
The route will operate on a four times per week basis and will be the second destination in Kenya after Nairobi.
The flights will be operated by the carrier’s Airbus A320, offering 12 seats in Business Class and 120 seats in Economy.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, said, “We are sure our new direct daily service to Mombasa will prove very popular with tourists interested in exploring Kenya’s beautiful tropical beaches and coastline, as well as immersing themselves in the city’s fascinating diverse cultural mix.”
Al Baker added that “This second new route to Kenya, in addition to our existing three daily services to the capital Nairobi, will help make Qatar Airways the first choice for travellers wishing to explore this beautiful country.”
Outbound flight QR1333 will depart Doha at 0230 and arrive into Mombasa at 0840, all in local times. The return, QR1334 will depart at 1650 and arrive back into Doha at 2330 the same day.
Qatar Airways has been operating into Kenya since November 2005. Expanding into the Kenyan market comes following the success of the Nairobi service.
Last week saw the carrier announce services to Da Nang, Vietnam as part of the expansion of their portfolio across the globe.
Services to Tallinn, Valletta and Gothenburg are amongst the expansion plans this year.
This is all part of the airline’s strategy to achieve 250 destinations by 2022 in time for the FIFA World Cup.
