LONDON – Lufthansa has this announced plans to launch services to Austin, Texas starting May 3, 2019, on a five times per week basis.

Equipment of choice by the carrier is its Airbus A330-300 aircraft, offering a three-class layout.

These planes come equipped with 42 seats in Business Class, 28 in Premium Economy and 185 in Economy Class.

Commenting on the new route launch was Matt Strong, Lufthansa’s General Manager of Sales for South Central USA.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of nonstop service between Austin, and our Frankfurt hub in May of next year, which will offer Austin area residents a world of travel opportunities to more than 200 destinations in 100 countries from our European base,” he said.

“Those living in Texas’ state capital will now be able to experience Lufthansa’s outstanding service and 5-star premium product on long-haul travel routes.”

The five times per week service will see the route operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

LH468 will depart Frankfurt at 10:00 and arrive into Austin at 14:05. The return, LH469, will depart Austin at 16:00 and arrive back into Frankfurt at 09:05 the next day.

Jim Smith, Executive Director at Austin-Bergstrom Airport, said that “Lufthansa’s flights will make it even easier for global customers to reach the Austin experience and further opens Europe to Austin travelers.”

This new route to Austin is yet another contribution of the Lufthansa Group to the US market. Last week, Austrian Airlines announced new services to Montreal from Vienna, which will launch in April 2019.
