MIAMI – KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL) has announced a consistent expansion of its intercontinental network by adding six new destinations to Orlando (MCO), Cancun (CUN), Bridgetown (BGI), Mombasa (MBA), Port of Spain (POS), and Phuket (HKT) via Kuala Lumpur (KUL).
The new destinations will be operational for the new winter season beginning from October 31 and lasting till March 26, 2022. The expansion is part of KL policy to fly wherever an early recovery from the Covid-19 crisis takes place and, at the same time, offer its customers an enlarged choice of destinations."For KLM, this represents the next, significant step towards rebuilding its network for the benefit of our customers." The equipment to be deployed on the new destinations will consist of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for flights destined to MBA, MCO, and CUN, an Airbus A330 will be used on the BGI and POS routes while HKT will be operated by a Boeing 777-300. A particularity, three of the new flights will be of a circular type serving two destinations simultaneously.
KL CEO, Pieter Enders, commented on the new schedule and said “For KLM, this represents the next, significant step towards rebuilding its network for the benefit of our customers. As many as 99 destinations in Europe will be served during summer and, with this latest expansion, KLM’s intercontinental network will also be significantly strengthened for winter”.
