LONDON – British LLC Jet2.com and Jet2 Holidays have announced that they are looking to take on an additional 3,000 European staff as part of their expansion plan.

Jet2 have already announced that 500 of these jobs will be provided at Manchester Airport and an additional 50 going to Belfast Aldergrove airport, in Northern Ireland.

Sinn Féin MLA Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, said: “Today’s announcement that 50 jobs will be created at Aldergrove Airport by airline Jet2 is a great boost for the local economy.

I am particularly glad that Jet2 have decided to invest in the north as part of a 3000 job boost across Europe.”

Expansion in Scotland

Jet2 have also confirmed that they would be investing in Scotland, with 300 jobs being created in the country.

Jet2 has said that the jobs are part of their expansion plans for increasing capacity at Glasgow and Edinburgh terminals over next summer with more than 1.7 million seats in total.

The airline has also confirmed that they will be launching two new destinations, with a flight from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Bourgas in Bulgaria and from Glasgow to Izmir in Turkey.

Expansion in England

Other big investments in England was 200 jobs for the North-East and 200 jobs for East Midlands.

In the North-East, Jet2 is looking for cabin crew and ground operations workers that live near Newcastle Airport.

For the East Midlands, they are looking for cabin crew and ground operations staff as well as for some pilots too.

Despite all the issues that many UK based carriers have faced over recent months with BREXIT Jet2 are not going to let this slow them down with their plans for expansion across Europe going ahead.

As we come into the end of the negotiations it will be interesting to see how Jet2 plan for any new changes that come with it.
