MIAMI – Frontier Airlines (F9) is expanding in Southern California by adding Hollywood-Burbank (BUR) to its route map and more service to Ontario (ONT).
BUR service to Denver (DEN), Las Vegas (LAS), and Phoenix (PHX) comes on the heels of start-up carrier Avelo Airlines (XP) beginning flights to 11 markets from the smaller LA metro airport. American Airlines (AA) has since also announced upgraded service to its PHX hub from BUR.
“We’re excited to add Hollywood Burbank Airport to our route map with nonstop Denver, Las Vegas and Phoenix flights this summer,” said Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operational design for Frontier Airlines. “Frontier offers a robust flight schedule in Southern California and the addition of Burbank will provide an even more convenient and easy to use option for many in the region seeking affordable fares and friendly service to a variety of popular destinations.”

The carrier says it now offers nine nonstop destinations from ONT this summer, the most of any airline serving the airport on the eastern edge of the populous LA basin.
