FARNBOROUGH — New Delhi based Vistara Airlines has signed a deal with Airbus for a total of 50 A320 family aircraft.

In terms of breakdown, a Letter of intent (LoI) has been signed for 13 A320neos followed by a commitment for 37 units of the same aircraft type respectively.

The carrier will use CFM LEAP engines in both of the deals.

The A320neo for Vistara will be the first aircraft in their fleet to fly regional international routes, meaning that Vistara can open up new opportunities within the market.

Vistara currently operates a fleet of 21 A320 aircraft including eight A320neo aircraft.

The airline also has a small outstanding order for six Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Vistara will benefit from having the widest single-aisle cabin in the sky as well as up to 15% fuel and CO2 savings from day one and up to 20% by 2020 respectively.

Vistara will benefit from 50% noise reduction with the A320neo according to Airbus representatives.

At list prices, is valued at $5.5 billion. Airlines, however, typically receive substantial discounts on bulk orders.
