FARNBOROUGH – Goshawk Aviation Limited, the 50/50 joint venture between NWS Holdings and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Limited, has placed an order for 20 Airbus A320neos. Goshawk Aviation is based in Dublin, Ireland.
Based on list prices, this deal is worth around $2.2 billion. The lessor has said that engine selection will be made at a later date.
Goshawk Aviation currently has over 220 aircraft including the direct order with Airbus. Their Airbus portfolio spans 120 out of the 220 total aircraft and includes the A320 Family including NEO, A330 Family including NEO and A350-900.
The carrier will benefit from the 15% saving in fuel and CO2 from day one with 20% by 2020 as well as 50% noise reduction. This is yet another significant commitment to the 6,100 orders received from over 100 customers, representing the 60% share in the market.
The 50/50 joint venture was founded in 2013 and offers leasing options to different carriers around the world. Airbus will now be hoping that as more orders come in, that they can expand on their 59 billion EUR per year in revenues.
It seems at the moment that more lessors are coming forward to bring new aircraft to their portfolio, especially as many more carriers are wanting to lease rather than buy directly from the manufacturer.
