LONDON — UK low-cost carrier easyJet has today reached a huge milestone in the carrier’s history with the launch of their 1,000th route.

The route in question, which is a flight between Manchester and Bordeaux, forms one of 24 brand new routes that easyJet has put on sale this morning for their Winter 2018 schedule.

Out of the 16 routes, five of them will be from Manchester and will base five new aircraft there, adding an extra 1.5 million passengers annually for capacity.

The expansion is as follows route-wise:

Out of the 16 brand new routes in the UK, a total of 24 were launched across the airline’s entire network, offering 358,200 seats in Winter 2018, with 248,600 of them being in the UK.

Andrew Cowan, CEO of Manchester Airport, stated: “We’re delighted to see easyJet’s commitment to Manchester Airport and the region with the announcement of five new aircraft and five new routes. It will provide our passengers with even greater choice when they come to book their holidays.”

Sophie Dekkers, UK Country Director, shared: “easyJet has come such a long way since our first ever route from London Luton to Glasgow in 1996 and we are so excited to have reached the 1000 routes milestone today.”

This is a big milestone for easyJet and they have celebrated with quite a new significant presence in both the UK market and also in other areas of the world.

As they continue to expand, they will be wanting to expand their passenger numbers from the 82 million annually that the carrier takes and will be wanting to hit the 100 million mark over the next few years.
