MIAMI — Bombardier signed a firm purchase agreement with Delta Air Lines for 20 CRJ900 aircraft, which will come equipped with the new ATMOSPHÈRE cabin on the CRJ Series regional jets.

“We are thrilled that Delta continues to select the CRJ Series as the airline looks into the future growth of its regional operations,” said Fred Cromer, president, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft.

“Together with Delta, we have driven the development of regional aviation in the U.S., and we are looking forward to further enhancing regional air travel with the launch of the new ATMOSPHÈRE cabin with our long-standing and esteemed customer,” Cromer added.

According to the manufacturer, and based on the list price for the CRJ900 aircraft, the firm order is valued at US$961 million, approximately.

The new Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft enhanced with ATMOSPHÈRE cabin will fly under the Delta Connection brand in a 70-seat and two-class regional jet configuration.

Delta is expecting to take delivery of the world’s first ATMOSPHÈRE cabin CRJ900 aircraft in late 2018.

Accessible Lavatory: The CRJ Series is the first and only regional aircraft to offer a PRM (Passenger with Reduced Mobility) lavatory option, providing additional 3 inches of headroom, up to 90% more floor space and easy to clean, germ-resistant surfaces for all passengers.

Connected Cabin: The ATMOSPHÈRE cabin will keep passengers in touch with emails, texts, and social media, plus onboard Wi-Fi streaming of content such as music, movies, and TV shows. Additionally, the experience enhances with the in-seat power outlet to keep devices fully charged.

Generous Carry-On: The spacious overhead bins on the CRJ Series accommodate the largest number of standard roller bags of any aircraft in their category. Newly introduced ‘wheels-first’ Business Class bins provide 50% more capacity than before. Economy Class passengers will also enjoy accommodating oversized bags that are 40% larger than the typical airline dimensions.

Soothing Environment: The CRJ Series cabin features the largest windows in class, increasing natural light onboard. Full LED lighting, with available mood lighting effects, will be featured inside the aircraft.

Bombardier has currently recorded firm orders for 1953 CRJ Series aircraft, including Delta Air Lines order announced yesterday, June 20.

The Montreal-based manufacturer has production and engineering sites in 28 countries across the segments of Transportation, Business Aircraft, Commercial Aircraft and Aerostructures and Engineering Services.
As of today, Delta Connection boasts a fleet of 78 CRJ-700 and 76 CRJ-900. With this new order, the airline will become one of the world’s largest operators of the type.
