MIAMI – Alaska Airlines (AS), like other U.S. carriers seeing a surge of post-pandemic summertime demand, is looking ahead to the winter months.
The growing carrier has announced new seasonal routes starting this fall to warm getaways:
- Weekly service between San Francisco (SFO) and Cancun, Mexico (CUN).
- Multiple weekly flights between Portland, Ore. (PDX) and both Tampa (TPA) and New Orleans (MSY).
- A new link between fast-growing Austin (AUS) and Palm Springs (PSP).
Response to Post-Pandemic Demand
“Since March, our bookings for leisure travel have exceeded what they were before the pandemic. For many of our guests, there’s an increased confidence that comes after being vaccinated. They were cooped up for well over a year – now they’re ready to relax, enjoy and explore,” Brett Catlin, vice president of network and alliances at Alaska Airlines, said in a news release. “With these new routes, we can whisk them away to destinations that have a warm sparkle in the wintertime.”
