MIAMI — Many airlines have added extra flights to the New York City area for next week’s Super Bowl XLVIII. However, Alaska Airlines is doing something a bit different. It is planning a special tailgate party at 35,000 feet for 56 lucky people.

The airline is offering a special sweepstakes for residents in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington (where Alaska has the biggest presence) through Sunday, January 26 to join it on its Super Bowl tailgating flight to Newark for the big game for free. You can enter the sweepstakes on the airline’s Facebook page.

Fifty-six winners will be chosen to take part in this experience. Each will receive two round-trip tickets on the special flight to and from  Newark, two night’s hotel accommodation in New York City, and an invitation to what Alaska Air says is “an exclusive game day party at a midtown Manhattan venue.” Unfortunately, game tickets are not part of the game package.

For the special February 1st flight, Alaska Airlines is rolling out a special paint job, to be dedicated to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

In the mean time, the Broncos arrived in New Jersey Sunday afternoon for the big game, while the Seahawks are expected to arrive Sunday night.

Good luck to both teams!
