DALLAS – World2Fly (2W) has launched a new direct service between Madrid (MAD) and Cali (CLO). 2W will touch down for the first time in South America at the end of this year.
The young Spanish leisure carrier, a little more than 4 years old, has chosen CLO as its first South American destination, which would surprise many as it is the 19th most populous city in the area. Non-stop flights from Madrid-Barajas International Airport (MAD) are set to commence on December 1, 2024, and will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays. However, the airline has not yet disclosed the flight schedules.
“We are very excited to announce this new route that is added to the World2Fly portfolio and is the result of the growth strategy that we are developing at the airline. Likewise, we do it with the latest generation A350, something disruptive and differentiating in the market,” said Bruno Claeys, Managing Director at 2W.
About World2Fly
World2Fly is one of the latest startups in the complex Spanish domestic airline industry. The company was founded by former members of the executive board of Evelop Airlines, now rebranded as Iberojet (E9). While these two carriers now operate as direct competitors, their fleets, route networks, and general structure are carbon copies of each other.
The Spanish carrier’s fleet is currently made up of one Airbus A330-300 and three A350-900s. Their latest A350 is configured in one of the densest cabin layouts in the industry, fitting up to 432 passengers in an all-economy class configuration.
World2Fly receives revenue from two different sides; on one hand, from offering and promoting long-haul low-cost flights to popular leisure destinations in the Americas, and on the other, from collaborating very closely with a large number of travel agencies that arrange package holidays for tourists during peak season.
Moreover, the airline has recently introduced itself as another ACMI airline that wet-leases its aircraft to third parties. At the moment of writing, World2Fly holds a crucial contract with the Dutch carrier Corendon (CD), flying one of their Airbus A350-900s between Amsterdam (AMS) and Curaçao (CUR), where a pioneering “Adult Only” zone inside the plane was introduced on that specific route.
