DALLAS — The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has added two more airlines to its TSA PreCheck program.
The program, which already has almost 100 participating airlines in the expedited screening operation at more than 200 US state and territory airports, has two additional carriers: Caribbean Airlines (BW) and Red Air (L5).
In April, the program expanded to welcome eight new airlines. These included Air Premia (YP), Air Tahiti Nui (TN), Air Transat (TS), Bahamasair (UP), BermudAir (2T), Iberia (IB), La Compagnie (B0), and New Pacific Airlines (7H).
Convenient Security Processing
Travelers eligible for TSA PreCheck enjoy more convenient security processing at airports. They may keep on their shoes, belts, and light jackets and are not required to remove laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, or food items from their carry-on bags.
Furthermore, their processing times are reduced. The TSA says that most PreCheck passengers wait less than 10 minutes in dedicated lanes at airport checkpoints.
The TSA PreCheck program is not available to all passengers. However, it is open for eligible passengers when departing from participating airports or connecting on domestic flights after returning to the United States from abroad.
After being approved for the program, eligible travelers will receive a unique known traveler number (a KTN). Adding this to an airline reservation makes them eligible for TSA PreCheck lanes.
