Turkish Airlines Reports May Traffic Results

DALLAS — Turkish Airlines (TK) has reported its May 2024 traffic results, highlighting a 7.3% increase in capacity, as compared to May 2023. TK carried 7.2 million passengers during the month.

In May, the Turkish flag carrier’s international load factor was 79.3%, whereas the domestic load factor was 84.2%. The number of international-to-international transfer passengers reached 2.5 million, an increase of 3.6% compared to May 2023, when it was 2.4 million. 

Moreover, the available seat kilometers (ASK) increased by 7.3% to 21.3 billion from 19.9 billion in May 2023. Cargo carried during May 2024 also increased by 28.8% to 174.4 thousand tons from 135.4 thousand tons in May 2023.

January-May 2024 Traffic Results

Between January and May 2024, TK carried 32.8 million passengers, an increase of 5.7% compared to the same period in 2023. The number of international-to-international passengers carried reached 12.6 million, an increase of 7% compared to May 2023, when it was 11.8 million. 

However, the overall load factor decreased by 0.8% to 80.4% compared to the same period in 2023. The ASK increased by 10.8% to 100 billion from 90.3 billion in 2023. 

Cargo handled during this period also increased by 33.7% to 814.7 thousand tons from 609.2 thousand tons. At the end of May 2024, the TK fleet had 456 aircraft.
