Turkish Airlines to Offer Free Wi-Fi Across Its Fleet

DALLAS — Turkish Airlines (TK) plans to provide all its passengers with free unlimited Wi-Fi connectivity service within two years.

To accomplish this service by the end of 2025, TK plans to to retrofit its existing fleet with "the latest in-flight connectivity (IFC) technologies and equip the new aircraft with the most efficient IFC technologies available."

With a full-fleet rollout, TK hopes to satisfy its customers' expectations regarding their digital consumption habits while traveling by using the new IFC technology.

National/International Tech Suppliers

The carrier states that in order to meet its goal, it is willing to work with any supplier and that it was in negotiations with both domestic and foreign vendors that can provide the finest IFC service options for its whole fleet.

The Turkish flag carrier has also pledged support for Turkish companies "in the development of solutions for this connectivity service" by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TCI Aircraft Interiors, a certified aviation products provider, and Turksat, a regional leader in satellite technologies.

The airline noted that all parties involved would try to come to an understanding and attempt to turn the MoU into a final agreement when the required feasibility studies have been completed.
