DALLAS — On June 25, Thai Airways International (TG) and Kuwait Airways (KU) announced the launch of their new codeshare agreement.
Under partnership, TG’s code will be displayed on KU flights between Kuwait City (KWI) and Bangkok (BKK), European routes, including flights between Kuwait City and Athens, and Kuwait City and Rome. As a result, TG will be able to sell seats on KU flights operating said routes.
In turn, KU's code will be displayed on TG’s flights between Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur; starting on June 26, Kuwait Airways will also be able to market these flights.
Furthermore, depending on government approval, TG and KU will be able to provide codeshare flights on more routes between KWI and the Middle East and between KWI and Europe. Kuwait Airways' codeshare destinations include Amman, Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh, Cairo, Casablanca, and Milan.
Kuwait Airways will also codeshare and market flights operated by TG from BKK to South Korea and the Far East.
Comments from Airline Officials
In a statement by Mr. Chai Eamsiri, THAI’s CEO, expressed optimism towards the future cooperation between TG and KU, saying, “The codeshare agreement will offer passengers greater choices in traveling between Bangkok and Kuwait City, with access to other parts of the Middle East, North Africa, and the European countries."
"We look forward to developing the relationship further, and introducing more added-value benefits in the future enhancing our seamless connectivity and offering passengers with more options and experience.”
Kuwait Airways’ CEO, Captain Ahmad M. Alkreebani, said the move will not only “enhance commercial and tourism relations between Kuwait and Thailand”, but would also allow the airlines to “work closely to offer the best services to passengers and improve customer experience.”
