THAI Resumes Bangkok-Brussels Nonstop Service

DALLAS — THAI Airways International (TG) will relaunch daily direct flights between its home base of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Brussels Airport (BRU). Flights between the two capitals were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are now set to resume.

After a four year hiatus, the airline’s Boeing 787-8 fleet will operate this popular leisure route. TG934 will leave Bangkok at 0030 and arrive in Brussels at 0705. The return flight, TG935, departs BRU at 1310 and touches down in the morning at BKK at 0610 local time.

THAI’s Boeing 787-8 can seat 256 passengers: 22 in Royal Silk Class, TG’s business product, and 234 in Economy class.

According to Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, 114,016 Belgian arrivals were recorded in 2019. However, due to the absence of a direct service between Brussels and Bangkok, only 85,512 Belgian travelers were recorded in 2023.

THAI’s CEO, Mr Chai Eamsiri, said that the country expects over 100,000 Belgian tourists by the end of 2024 due to the relaunched route.

Exploring Airline History Volume I

David H. Stringer, the History Editor for AIRWAYS Magazine, has chronicled the story of the commercial aviation industry with his airline history articles that have appeared in AIRWAYS over two decades. Here, for the first time, is a compilation of those articles.

Subjects A through C are presented in this first of three volumes. Covering topics such as the airlines of Alaska at the time of statehood and Canada's regional airlines of the 1960s, the individual histories of such carriers as Allegheny, American, Braniff, and Continental are also included in Volume One.
