SAS Returns to Greenland in 2025 with Nuuk Service

DALLAS — After nearly two decades of absence from the world’s largest island, Scandinavia's national airline, SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK), is returning to Greenland, with flight operations officially beginning next summer. In fact, on June 27, 2025, Greenland will see the arrival of new services.

The first is the connection launch between the Danish capital, Copenhagen (CPH), and the Arctic capital, Nuuk (GOH). The SK route, pending final approval by the government, will be operated three times a week. Flights will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The second new entry concerns connectivity with the Americas; according to United Airlines (UA) announcements, flight operations to the Arctic capital of Nuuk (GOH) will begin in the summer of 2025, more precisely on June 14.

Three New Airports for Greenland

The opening of the new airport, scheduled for November 28, 2024, will make the new connections in the Arctic capital of Nuuk possible. The new airport infrastructure will allow for the landing of larger aircraft and the presence of a new terminal that can accommodate higher passenger volumes.

In addition to the Nuuk Airport (GOH), two other airports are about to be established in the Arctic region, enabling greater connectivity at the European and international levels. 

These are the Iulissat airports, the country's most famous tourist destination, and Qaqartoc; both airport facilities are scheduled to open in 2026.
