SAS, Air Europa Join Forces to Enhance Connectivity

DALLAS — SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK) and Air Europa (UX) have signed a codeshare agreement to foster seamless connectivity between Scandinavia and the Iberian Peninsula.

The agreement was announced at Fitur, Madrid International Tourism Fair, on January 23, 2025. It will ensure smooth travel options for UX passengers and allow them to access SK's massive network.

Officials from the two respective airlines were ecstatic about this agreement. Paul Verhagen, SAS's Chief Commercial Officer, and Imanol Pérez, Air Europa's commercial director, expressed excitement about this new venture. This codeshare partnership opens new routes for travel.

Expanded Reach for Travelers

SAS customers gain access to 12 popular destinations in Spain and Portugal, including:

  1. In Spain; Alicante, Barcelona, Vigo, Málaga, A Coruña, Bilbao
  2. In Portugal; Palma de Mallorca, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Norte, Lisbon, Oporto

From almost perfect vacation spots in Mallorca to the busy city of Barcelona, all will be covered in this agreement between SAS and Air Europa. Moving on from Spain and Portugal, Air Europa passengers will benefit from SAS's Scandinavian network outside of Spain in the Scandinavian regions, connecting to:

  1. Stockholm, Oslo, Gothenburg, Aarhus, Trondheim, Stavanger, and Bergen

New direct flights between Madrid and Copenhagen will launch on April 11, 2025.

Why It Matters

The codeshare enhances SkyTeam's alliance and facilitates access to the extended UX network, which covers North Africa, the Caribbean, and South America. Both carriers focus on making air travel worthwhile by ensuring quality services for passengers, specially those in Europe.

Fithermore, the airlines are set to collaborate on expanding travel choices, making connecting travelers worldwide easier. Such agreements fill a gap for passengers who might have to stop in between rather than allowing them to have a smooth direct flight.
