Ryanair Expands Its Porto Airport Winter Network

DALLAS — European low-cost carrier (LLC) Ryanair (FR) has announced the addition of two new winter destinations from the Portuguese city of Porto, increasing the base's route number to 55.

Porto Airport (OPO), located in the northwestern part of Portugal, is one of the country's FR bases. The city will be linked with:

  • Rome (FCO), the eternal city and capital of Italy
  • Tangier (TNG), a historic Morocco city with a stunning medina

Ryanair has stated that the opening of this winter season with the new routes will unlock 360 direct job positions with the airline in the region; part of the plan is not only granting regional connectivity but also flourishing the area's job demand.

At this point, the number of destinations reachable from Porto increases to 55, covering more than 17 countries, including Germany, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, France, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Malta, Poland, UK, Netherlands, Morocco, Portugal, Austria and Sweden.

Interestingly, 12 aircraft will be based at OPO airport for the winter season.

Ryanair is Europe's largest LCC and one of the world's largest airlines by the number of international passengers it carries. Its headquarters are in Dublin, Ireland, and its main operational airport is Dublin Airport (DUB).
