DALLAS — Qantas Airways (QF) has announced several changes involving aircraft, new international routes, ending routes, and additional capacity on specific routes.
The updates include the return of the Airbus A380 to serve Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW) and a new route from Brisbane (BNE) to Palau (ROR).
Additionally, QF has reintroduced the Boeing 787 for flights from BNE to Los Angeles (LAX) and Auckland (AKL), discontinued the Sydney (SYD) to Seoul (ICN) mainline service, and swapped an aircraft on the Darwin (DWR) to Singapore (SIN) route.

After a five-year absence, from August 11, 2025, QF will bring back two stored Airbus A380s to serve flights between DFW and SYD.
Between September 2014 and April 2020, the carrier flew the A380 from Sydney to DFW to capitalize on opportunities provided by partner American Airlines (AA) at its busiest hub.
Dallas will also see an increase in the frequency of flights from Melbourne (MEL) from three to four weekly flights commencing on February 6, 2025.
New Route: BNE- ROR, Seoul Changes
Qantas also announced a new route between Brisbane and the only airport in Palau, ROR. The airport is six hours away from Brisbane. The airline’s 737 fleet is expected to service this route, which will be flown once a week.
Qantas said the route will commence in “the coming months,” but there is no confirmed date yet.
By mid-June 2025, QF will scrap its SYD-ICN route and fly there with Jetstar (JQ) instead, increasing the service from four per week to daily. Qantas Group International CEO Mr. Cam Wallace said that QF will redeploy its mainline aircraft on other routes that “are seeing strong demand.”
Overall, from February 2025 to February 2026, QF will add up to 220,000 extra seats on international routes. The full summary of the changes is outlined here.
