DALLAS — National Jet Express (NJE), a prominent Fly-in, Fly-out (FIFO) operator in Australia, has expanded its fleet by leasing its 10th Dash 8-Q400 aircraft. The newest addition, registered as VH-8QB, is 14 years old and leased from international aviation lessor Avmax.
The aircraft will be based in Adelaide, strengthening NJE’s operations in South Australia. It features a single-class cabin configuration with 78 seats arranged in a 2-2 layout.
In addition to its 10 Dash 8-Q400 aircraft, NJE’s fleet includes 7 Embraer E190s and 4 Bae 146/Avro RJ aircraft, with management, crew, and engineering bases in Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane. The airline has continued its operations and expansion efforts, even after its parent company, Rex Group, entered voluntary administration earlier this year.
Comments from Avmax and NJE
“NJE continues to see strong demand across the construction, mining, and resources industries around Australia, and we are actively sourcing additional aircraft for our Queensland, Western Australia, and South Australia operations,” said NJE’s interim COO, Robin Furber.
“NJE has made a conscious effort to invest in modern and fuel-efficient aircraft to support our FIFO operations, in stark contrast to the older aircraft operated by some of our competitors. Our customers tell us they highly value the comfort, environmental benefits, and reliability of operating these aircraft.”
“On behalf of the Avmax Group, we congratulate NJE and welcome them as a lessee of Avmax Aircraft Leasing Inc. (AALI),” said Steve Hankirk, Avmax’s CEO.
“NJE is our first Dash 8-Q400 lessee in Australia, and we look forward to supporting them with additional regional aircraft and spare parts for their fleet.”
