DALLAS – Boeing kicked off the 2024 Farnborough Airshow with an order for four Boeing 777 freighters from National Airlines (N8). This marks the carrier’s first direct purchase of Boeing aircraft and signifies a commitment to enhancing its global cargo services.
These new freighters are expected to play a crucial role in maximizing N8’s commercial cargo services and expanding its market share across its global network. They will join N8’s existing fleet of nine Boeing 747-400 freighters. Two of these freighters will be delivered in late 2025, with the remaining two in 2026.
Designed for compatibility, the 777F allows for effortless cargo transfer between the two aircraft types. This translates to streamlined ground logistics and additional cost savings through fleet commonality.
Executive Comments
Speaking to Airways, National Airlines chairman, Christopher Alf shed light on the carrier's freighter strategy, stating, "National Airlines still looks for second-hand Boeing 747-400 Freighters and this new order is part of a fleet expansion plan." Highlighting the future, Alf added, "The Boeing 777X Freighter would be the ideal replacement for the Boeing 747-400 Freighter fleet."
"We are elated by this remarkable order of four Boeing 777 Freighters. This demonstrates our commitment to offering efficient, resourceful, and modern air freight services to support our global customers' increasing transportation demands. The order affirms our fleet growth plan as we enter into the next chapter of National. We sincerely appreciate the support by Boeing and all its associated teams in this journey ahead,” said Christopher Alf, chairman of National Airlines.
The addition of the Boeing 777Fs marks a significant step forward for the airline, paving the way for a future of growth and industry leadership in the global cargo market.
"We appreciate National Airlines for its trust in Boeing and the 777 Freighter to grow the carrier's global fleet and deliver greater value for its customers. With its cargo capacity, range, and reliability, operators continue to rely on the 777 Freighter to build their future fleets, making it the best-selling freighter of all time,” said Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
