Malaysia Airlines' Kuala Lumpur-Chiang Mai Nonstop

DALLAS — Malaysia Airlines (MH) recently inaugurated a nonstop route connecting Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) in Malaysia and Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) in Thailand.

The route, launched on August 15 with Flight MH772, will operate five times a week using a Boeing 737-800, which can accommodate 162 passengers. The nonstop flight is set to significantly increase Malaysian tourism to Thailand, with over 5 million visitors from Malaysia expected this year.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), expressed enthusiasm about the new route, noting its potential to enhance Thailand's status as a regional travel hub.

The governor also emphasized that this nonstop connection between two major Southeast Asian cities will greatly improve travel convenience for Malaysian tourists.

This new route is part of TAT's broader strategy to attract high-quality tourists by partnering with airlines and reinforcing Thailand's role as a central destination for ASEAN tourism.

According to nationalthailand.com, Thailand has welcomed over 3 million Malaysian tourists this year, a 27.65% increase from the previous year.
