KLM Announces Three New European Spring Routes

DALLAS — From spring 2025, KLM (KL) will operate scheduled flights to Ljubljana (LJU), Exeter (EXT), and Biarritz (BIQ).

KLM will introduce flights to LJU and EXT on March 30. Starting April 19, the Amsterdam-based (AMS) carrier will also fly to BIQ. The airline will fly daily to LJU and EXT throughout the year. However, BIQ flights will only be operated daily during the summer. In the winter months, KL will fly there twice a week.

Ljubljana is Slovenia's capital and largest city. The destination is enjoyable for both business travel and tourism. Thanks to its highly varied landscape, beautiful nature, and rich culture, Slovenia has a lot to offer.

Exeter is located in Southwest England, the gateway to Devon and Cornwall. The city is northeast of Plymouth and southwest of Bristol. The coastline (Jurassic Coast—UNESCO World Heritage) is known for its cliffs and unique landforms.

The English city is KL’s 18th destination in the United Kingdom. There has been no direct flight linking AMS and EXT since 2019 due to the bankruptcy of FlyBe, which operated this route. With the addition of EXT to its network, KL reconnects these cities.

Biarritz is a stylish seaside resort on the Bay of Biscay in southwestern France. The city is known as the surf capital of Europe. The French Basque region is an ideal holiday destination with a mix of beaches, forests, mountains, cities, and typical Basque villages.

Adding these destinations to KL’s route network offers travelers even more travel options within Europe for business and leisure purposes.

Exploring Airline History Volume I

David H. Stringer, the History Editor for AIRWAYS Magazine, has chronicled the story of the commercial aviation industry with his airline history articles that have appeared in AIRWAYS over two decades. Here, for the first time, is a compilation of those articles.

Subjects A through C are presented in this first of three volumes. Covering topics such as the airlines of Alaska at the time of statehood and Canada's regional airlines of the 1960s, the individual histories of such carriers as Allegheny, American, Braniff, and Continental are also included in Volume One.
