JetBlue Debuts New York-St. Vincent and the Grenadines

DALLAS — JetBlue (B6) announced today that it has officially begun service between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Argyle International Airport (SVD).

The route makes B6 the first U.S. carrier to provide nonstop service from its New York hub to the southern Caribbean islands. The first flight will arrive in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this afternoon. The new round-trip service will run on Wednesdays and Sundays as per the following schedule:

  • JFK-SVD Flight 1639: 9:29 a.m. - 2:19 p.m.
  • SVD-JFK Flight 1640: 3:54 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

The airline will fly the St. Vincent and the Grenadines route with its Airbus A320 aircraft, providing the airline's award-winning service, which includes fast, free, and unlimited broadband Fly-Fi 1, complementary name-brand snacks and drinks, and seat back entertainment at every seat.

In recent years, the airline has expanded its network throughout Latin America and the Caribbean to the point of becoming a market leader. B6's expansion into St. Vincent and the Grenadines brings the airline's total Latin American and Caribbean destinations to 26.

Exploring Airline History Volume I

David H. Stringer, the History Editor for AIRWAYS Magazine, has chronicled the story of the commercial aviation industry with his airline history articles that have appeared in AIRWAYS over two decades. Here, for the first time, is a compilation of those articles.

Subjects A through C are presented in this first of three volumes. Covering topics such as the airlines of Alaska at the time of statehood and Canada's regional airlines of the 1960s, the individual histories of such carriers as Allegheny, American, Braniff, and Continental are also included in Volume One.
