DALLAS – ITA Airways (AZ) announced that it will inaugurate a new nonstop service between Rome (FCO) and Bangkok (BKK) on November 16, 2024.
The route will be operated five times a week by AZ’s Airbus A330neo and will be the airline’s first route between Italy and Thailand. As of July 2024, there are no direct scheduled flights between the Italian and Thai capitals.
The outbound flight from FCO to BKK will be flown as AZ758 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with a departure time from Rome of 15:15 local time, touching down in BKK at 07:40 local time.
Arriving in Rome at 07:00 local time, the flight will leave Bangkok at 12:15 local time as AZ759 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This new addition to AZ’s growing network for the 2024/2025 Winter season comes after ITA announced it would begin flights between Rome and Dubai on October 27, 2024.
Comments from Airline, Airport Officials
ITA Airways Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Emiliana Limosani emphasized the new route’s importance to the airline, saying, “Bangkok connection represents an important step forward in ITA Airways' development strategy as it adds another intercontinental destination and opens for our passengers the doors to Thailand, a strategic market in terms of leisure tourism and business segment.”
Chief Aviation Officer of Aeroporti di Roma, Ivan Bassato, also showed optimism about the new destination, saying, “Thailand is one of the target markets in Southeast Asia for Rome”, and that "the new route to Bangkok will be an excellent option both for business travelers and for the many tourists, representing a sure boost to the growth of traffic flows and collaboration opportunities between the two countries.”
