Icelandair Announces Reykjavik-Miami Flights

DALLAS — Today, Icelandair (FI) announced Miami, Florida, as a new winter seasonal destination added to its network.

The seasonal flight from Reykjavik to Miami will operate thrice weekly, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday out of Miami), from 25 October 2025 through the end of March 2026.

The flight time between FI's hub in Reykjavik-Keflavik Airport (KEF) to Miami International Airport (MIA) is approximately eight hours long, spanning 3664 miles (5896km/3184 nautical miles).

Departing KEF at 1715 hr, FI691 will arrive at MIA at 2155 hr. The plane will then stay on the ground for approximately 20 hr. Then, on the return journey, FI690 will depart MIA at 1815 hr; the flight will arrive back at KEF the following day at 0555 hr, with a flight time of 7 hr 40 min long.

This route will be operated onboard FI's brand-new Airbus A321LR aircraft. The first A321LR aircraft, Esja (TF-IAA), was recently delivered in December 2024 and operates to destinations within Europe. The type is the first Airbus aircraft in FI history, aimed to replace the older Boeing 757 aircraft, the backbone of the FI long-haul fleet.

The new Airbus A321LR aircraft has 187 seats, with 22 in Business Class and 165 in Economy Class. Sporting a refreshed cabin aiming to improve passenger comfort, the new Airbus A321LR aircraft is equipped with the new Astrova in-flight entertainment, in partnership with Panasonic, with thin yet high-quality 4K OLED HDR10+ display, wireless connectivity and Spatial Audio, and USB-C charging ports available.

The aircraft also integrated new slimmer sidewall panels for more personal space, LED lighting, which can be customized, and larger overhead compartment space.

Florida is a popular winter destination for Icelanders in the southeastern United States. FI has offered direct flights to Orlando for decades and is now adding Miami as its 19th destination in North America.

Introducing flights between Reykjavik and Miami further enhances connectivity to the region and provides more choices for connecting passengers to Icelandair's already vast network.

Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair President and CEO, said, “We are thrilled to be opening a new gateway from Europe to sunny Florida via Iceland and from Miami to Iceland and beyond. With the new long-range and fuel-efficient Airbus aircraft we are able to add new and exciting destinations and Miami is a great addition."

"Miami will fit well into our route network, with convenient connections via Iceland to our 34 destinations in Europe. Welcome aboard Miami!,” added Bogason, as he expressed enthusiasm for the new flight connecting the two cities.

In conclusion, FI launches a winter-seasonal flight between Reykjavik and Miami, enhancing connectivity between the two cities and strengthening FI's presence in the North American market with the all-new A321LR aircraft sporting a refreshed cabin aiming to improve customer experience, the carrier's first Airbus aircraft.
