Hartsfield-Jackson Airport Prepares for Labor Day

DALLAS – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is gearing up for a busy Labor Day travel period, expecting over 2.3 million passengers between Wednesday, August 28, and Wednesday, September 4.

Airport officials have identified Friday, August 30, as the peak travel day, with projections of more than 349,000 passengers passing through ATL.

Interim ATL General Manager Jan Lennon emphasized the expected high volume and reassured travelers that the airport and its partners are working diligently to ensure smooth operations throughout the holiday weekend.

The above follows the traffic Management System fail at ATL a month ago, which is crucial for managing operations at DL's primary hub. Its failure compounded the logistical challenges faced by Delta Air Lines (DL) amid the Crowdstrike IT outage.

Travelers are advised to arrive at least two hours before their flights and to double-check their luggage for prohibited items before reaching the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint.

The airport adds that specific attention should be paid to regulations regarding firearms, which must be securely packaged and placed in checked luggage.

For real-time updates on parking, security wait times, and other services, passengers can visit ATL’s official website (ATL.com) or follow the airport's social media accounts.

Additionally, it is recommended that passengers monitor airline websites and social media channels for the latest travel information.
