DALLAS—Fiji Airways (FJ) and Porter Airlines (PD) have signed an interline agreement to expand passenger connectivity.
Fiji’s national carrier, FJ, has signed an interline agreement with Toronto (YTO)—based PD, which provides services in Canada and the United States of America. The agreement enables FJ to increase its footprint in North America and makes it easier for PD’s passengers to reach Fiji and other destinations in the Pacific that FJ serves.
Fiji Airways notes increasing passenger loads heading to North America on its flights. Therefore, it makes perfect sense for FJ to cooperate with PD, whose presence is expanding in North America. PD operates its flights to three significant hubs where passengers can conveniently connect to FJ flights.
“Our bookings to and from North America have been strong, collectively making up the second-largest group of visitors to Fiji in 2023. Many of these guests are flying in from other cities to catch our flights out of the three ports that Fiji Airways serves.” Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr Andre Viljoen said.

Airline Cooperation
As stated in a media release, the agreement means travelers will only need one ticket when flying from airports serviced by Porter Airlines and connecting onto Fiji Airways flights from Vancouver (YVR), Los Angeles (LAX), and San Francisco (SFO).
We are excited to launch this interline partnership with Porter Airlines, which will create easier access and more travel options for customers traveling to and from the important and growing list of markets Porter serves,” Viljoen said.
With more than 60 aircraft in its fleet, PD offers services to more than 30 destinations across Canada and the United States, with hubs in Toronto (YTO), Ottawa (YOW), Montréal (YMQ), and Halifax (YHZ). Passengers flying on itineraries, including both airlines, can connect in LAX, SFO or YVR.
Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Porter Airlines, Edmond Eldebs, stated, “This new partnership offers passengers seamless connections between Fiji Airways and Porter at key locations along the West Coast of North America. It improves access for Canadians to destinations across the Pacific and for passengers originating on Fiji flights to reach points across Eastern Canada.”

Promoting Tourism, Leisure Travel
Fiji is an attractive holiday destination for tourists from all over the world. Many North American travelers also favor the small island state. The interline agreement between FJ and PD will enable convenient and seamless travel for North American passengers.
This partnership is the perfect solution for Fijians wanting to holiday in North America or spend time with family and friends. It provides seamless connections to thirty locations across Canada and the United States.
“This partnership means families in various parts of the two countries can realistically consider a holiday in Fiji. Fiji is an ideal holiday destination for anyone looking for sun, sand, and sea with a vast variety of local experiences and culinary delights. Paradise is closer than you thought possible. Guests also won’t have to book separate flights and carry their luggage from one check-in counter to another because our agreement with Porter Airlines take care of all that in one ticket,” Viljoen added.
