DALLAS — EVA Air (BR) has won numerous awards and accolades for its excellent products.
The TPE-based airline has consistently ranked high in the global aviation panorama thanks to its diverse and competitive onboard offer, international network, and investments.
But what makes BR so unique? Follow Airways on this airline spotlight featuring BR.
Fleet, Network, Bangkok Hub
At the beginning of 2024, BR finalized its firm order for 18 Airbus A350-1000 and 15 A321neo to support its growth. Due to its performance and characteristics, the A350-1000 will primarily be deployed on long-haul routes, gradually replacing some of the aging 777-300ER.
Considering the current market competition and passenger demand, the airline will develop the optimal cabin configuration to maximize operational efficiency while fulfilling market requirements.
EVA Air positions itself as a networking airline, capitalizing on Taiwan's strategic geographic location to deliver seamless trans-Pacific and Eurasian connections. By October 2024, BR’s global network encompassed 62 destinations across North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, serving nearly 11 million passengers.
On July 1, 1991, BR launched its inaugural flight to Bangkok. After 33 years of growth, Bangkok has become the airline’s second hub on its Eurasian routes.
By strategically exercising the 5th traffic right, BR connects passengers from Bangkok to London, Amsterdam, and Vienna.
EVA Air operates 28 weekly flights to Bangkok, increasing to 32 flights in 2025, including 14 flights extended to Europe.
Competition, Onboard experience
Since BR is a global airline with TPE as its central hub, it offers a broader selection of options to cater to a wide range of passengers. This strategy is key to expanding the company's network. With over 30 years of experience, BR has built a strong presence in the North American market.
As a 10-year Star Alliance member, BR leverages the inherent loyal passengers and alliance members to build a strong reputation for the airline. BR is highly competitive, particularly in terms of the size of its transit network, especially on Trans-Pacific routes.
EVA Air strengthened our European routes to make the network coverage more comprehensive and balanced. This helps boost passenger numbers across the entire network and strengthen operational resilience.
The airline will continue to expand to new destinations and increase the number of flights to existing destinations. BR is also continuously improving its fleet, which includes replacing older planes and upgrading cabin equipment and services to provide passengers with a more convenient and comfortable journey.
Some of our readers will remember the introduction of the Premium Economy service. BR pioneered this service in the airline industry, revolutionizing the passenger flight experience.
Today, it is benefitting from some new, relaunched success. It still wins some of the “World’s Best Premium Economy” accolades today.
On Sustainability
EVA Air is committed to balancing sustainability with the economic realities of global aviation. The airline prioritizes environmental responsibility through various initiatives while maintaining operational efficiency and profitability.
Fleet modernization is arguably the most impactful way of reducing emissions. BR is planning to introduce the next-generation airliners at the end of 2026. Day-to-day emissions are reduced by advanced technologies that optimize flight paths, fuel use, and taxiing times.
The airline also invests in SAF, carbon offset programs, and optimized waste management systems. Economic integration is a critical detail of its optimization: BR prioritizes aligning sustainability efforts with business goals and achieving environmental and financial benefits.
Lastly, the airline has applied Lufthansa Technik’s AeroSHARK to its Boeing 777F fleet. BR will consider extending it to its 777-passenger fleet if it is successful.
