Etihad Reports Strong June 2024 Traffic Performance

DALLAS — The national airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways (EY), has reported robust traffic statistics for June 2024 with substantial growth and network expansion.

The airline carried 1.5 million guests and achieved a passenger load factor averaging 86% monthly. EY passenger traffic soared to a 34% increase compared to last year's period, demonstrating the continued growth momentum.

EY has flown 8.7 million passengers year-to-date (YTD), reflecting a 40% rise compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the rolling 12-month passenger tally is 16.4 million as of June 2024.

Fleet Expansion and Network Growth

As of June 2024, EY expanded its operational fleet to 92 aircraft, up from 76 in June 2023. This growth helped the airline to further enhance connectivity and service delivery across its network.

In June, EY successfully expanded its network, launching eight new destinations, including Bali (DPS), Jaipur (JAI), and Al Qassim (ELQ), and seasonal routes such as Nice (NCE), Antalya (AYT), Mykonos (JMK), Santorini (JTR) and Malaga (AGP).

EY introduced Airbus A321neo to the fleet this year, expanding capacity in medium-haul routes out of Abu Dhabi (AUH). The airline unveiled a special livery, as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, on one of the three A321neos that have already joined the fleet, and a further three are said to join later this year.

Exploring Airline History Volume I

David H. Stringer, the History Editor for AIRWAYS Magazine, has chronicled the story of the commercial aviation industry with his airline history articles that have appeared in AIRWAYS over two decades. Here, for the first time, is a compilation of those articles.

Subjects A through C are presented in this first of three volumes. Covering topics such as the airlines of Alaska at the time of statehood and Canada's regional airlines of the 1960s, the individual histories of such carriers as Allegheny, American, Braniff, and Continental are also included in Volume One.
