DALLAS — Today, Embraer celebrates its 55th anniversary. Founded just a few weeks after the Moon landing, the company’s origins can be traced back to August 19, 1969. Founded as Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica (Brazilian Aeronautics Corporation, short Embraer), the company initially focused on the EMB 110 Bandeirante.
Launched 20 years ago, the E-jets sold almost 2,200 units. The company continues to grow, with a backlog of 381 units at the end of the first quarter 2024. Today, the Brazilian company has almost 20,000 employees and has recently gained substantial traction.
Embraer started its anniversary year strong, with an order from American Airlines (AA) for up to 133 E175s. LOT Polish Airlines (LO) added two E195-E2 in May, and Mexicana de Aviación (B3) placed a firm order for 10 E190-E2 and 10 E195-E2, becoming a new E2 customer.

At the Farnborough Airshow, Embraer showcased its E190F, which received certification by the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC). Embraer displayed the aircraft next to the E195-E2 wearing the new Tech Eagle livery, which carried out its flight display on Monday.
Embraer’s CEO, Francisco Gomes Neto, recently remarked that the company is financially healthy and is working to streamline its production and deliveries to reduce supply chain pressure. Today, Embraer counts almost 300 aircraft orders in discussion with partner airlines worldwide.
