DALLAS — easyJet (U2) has announced it will launch new routes from airports in the UK and Norway for the winter.
The British low-cost carrier (LCC) will launch four new routes from three UK airports, including to Luxor (LXR) in Egypt. This will be the first time the airline has operated flights to LXR in over a decade. It will also introduce flights between the Norwegian capital Oslo (OSL) and Manchester (MAN), and Liverpool (LPL).
This follows last month’s announcement concerning the launch of 36 new routes from the UK. This means that U2 will offer 41 new routes across Europe and North Africa this winter, including brand new destinations such as City of Derry (LDY) in Northern Ireland, Tromso (TOS) in Norway and Strasbourg (SXB) in France. U2 serves 21 UK airports, offering 584 routes to 136 destinations from the UK to Europe and beyond.
“We’re delighted to be launching even more new routes from airports across the UK to a fantastic range of leisure destinations, meaning we’re now offering over 41 new routes including three brand new destinations on our network from this winter. By continuing to strengthen our network we’re providing even more choice and connectivity for our customers all across the UK, whether they’re chasing the winter sun, planning a magical winter getaway or hitting the slopes and we look forward to welcoming them on board.” Ali Gayward, easyJet's UK Country Manager, said.
Flights to Luxor, Sharm El Sheik, Oslo
Services to LXR will commence on November 11, from London Gatwick (LGW). Flights will be offered twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. LXR is a renowned tourist destination, known for its ancient temples and tombs. The city is home to famous monuments such as the Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings and the tomb of Tutankhamun, one of Egypt's most famous pharaohs, making it the perfect culture trip for history buffs.
easyJet is also expanding its services to Egypt with new winter services to Sharm El Sheik (SSH) from LPL. This means the budget airline will operate more seats to Egypt from the UK than any other airline. The inaugural flight to Sharm El Sheik will take off on 14 February and operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays throughout the winter.
U2 is also launching two new routes to OSL from MAN and LPL. Flights from MAN begin on November 15, while services from LPL start from November 29. This expands U2’s connections to Norway following the launch of new routes to TOS from LGW, Bristol (BRS) and MAN last month. Both routes will operate twice weekly during the winter on Mondays and Fridays.
