DALLAS — Discover Airlines (4Y) is set to expand its fleet significantly, growing from 27 to 33 aircraft by mid-2027. The expansion includes the addition of six Airbus A330-300s and three Airbus A320s.
The new A330s are expected to enter service by mid-2027, while the A320s will be operational by 2025. Concurrently, as their leases expire, three Airbus A330-200s will be phased out of the fleet by 2026.
Since its inception, 4Y has utilized Airbus A330s for long-haul routes and Airbus A320s for short to medium-haul flights, both of which are well-suited for the growing leisure travel market due to their efficiency and capacity.
Discover Airlines plans to introduce a new product on its A330 fleet starting in 2027 to enhance its long-haul offerings.
This upgrade will include an "All Aisle Access" configuration in Business Class, enhanced seating, and a new entertainment system across all travel classes. Details of this product renewal are finalized and will be revealed shortly.
Bernd Bauer, CEO of Discover Airlines, expressed confidence in the airline’s growth, emphasizing that the fleet expansion and product upgrades will solidify the airline's position in the leisure travel market and strengthen the Lufthansa Group's presence in this sector.
The airline was previously known as Eurowings Discover. The German leisure airline flies to destinations in North America, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean from its bases in Frankfurt and Munich. It began operations on September 5, 2023.
