DALLAS — Delta Air Lines (DL) debuted a new nonstop service to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) on today, June 6, the fourth new international route for the airline from SEA in 2024.
Delta also flies to Incheon International Airport (ICN), Tokyo-Haneda Airport (HND), and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) from SEA. In total, DL operates over 150 peak-day departures from the Northwest Coast airport to more than 50 destinations worldwide.
The Future Sea-Tac
Seattle-Tacoma International is in the city of SeaTac, named after the airport's nickname. SEA is approximately 14 miles (23 km) south of Downtown Seattle and 18 miles (29 km) north-northeast of Downtown Tacoma.
The airport serves as the Pacific Northwest hub for DL and a key gateway for the airline’s operations across the other pond. The Seattle hub now boasts 51 services to 33 international nonstop destinations on 25 different airlines.
With projections suggesting that the population of the Puget Sound region will increase by an additional one million individuals by 2035, the Port of Seattle initiated the development of the Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP) in 2018 to address the escalating requirements for both passenger and cargo services.
The SAMP proposes over 30 initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and accessibility at SEA, such as the construction of a new terminal featuring 19 gates and the implementation of an automated people mover system connecting three distinct stations.
