DALLAS — Copa Airlines (CM), the flag carrier of Panama, received its first Boeing 737-8 aircraft on July 3, 2024.

The Boeing 737-8, registered HP-9801CMP, was manufactured in Boeing’s Renton production site and ferried from King County International Airport-Boeing Field (BFI) in Seattle, WA, to Panama City Tocumen International Airport (PTY), according to Flight Global.

HP-9801CMP is also Copa’s 100th aircraft of the popular Boeing 737 series. Before the new MAX aircraft can commence its scheduled services, it will undergo a series of modifications in the coming weeks, according to CM. 

These modifications are aimed at installing amenities that align with Copa's high service standards, ensuring that the 737-8 provides services on board that are in line with the rest of the fleet. 

The Copa Fleet

Copa Airlines operates a diverse fleet, including 67 older-generation 737s and 33 newer-generation aircraft. The addition of the Boeing 737-8 and the upcoming certification of the Boeing 737-10, along with the seven more Boeing 737-8s on order, reflect the airline's ambitious growth plans. 

Copa flies to 31 countries from PTY, including 16 US destinations and other destinations in Latin America.
