Passengers can expect a comfortable travel experience with an estimated flight time of approximately 12 hours on board a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner configured with business, premium economy, and economy class cabins.

Connecting Sister Cities, Cultural Hubs

Shanghai, China's economic powerhouse and a major cultural center, and Marseille, France's second-largest city and a renowned Mediterranean port, share a special bond as sister cities since 1987. Following the launch of this flight, MU will become the first airline to fly scheduled flights on this route.

This new route not only facilitates convenient travel between these two destinations but also coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and France, further solidifying the cultural exchange between the two nations.

Timely Launch

This year marks the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism, making this a perfect time to explore the rich cultural offerings of both cities.

Shanghai boasts a plethora of events throughout the year, while Marseille will be hosting the sailing competitions for the 2024 Paris Olympics from July 28 to August 8.

"The launch of the Shanghai-Marseille flight will establish the first direct air corridor between this pair of sister cities. China Eastern Airlines will also become the first airline to operate on this route," said an airline spokesperson.
