Breeze Announces Charleston-New Haven Route

Breeze Airways (MX) has announced that on February 6, 2025, it will begin offering nonstop service from Charleston International Airport (CHS) to Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) in southern Connecticut. New Haven will be the airline's second Connecticut market served from Charleston.

Breeze will compete with Avelo (XP), which in June introduced a new service from New Haven to both St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) and Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) in Traverse City, Michigan. Until MX's four times weekly service to HVN—Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday—XP is the sole low-cost carrier serving New Haven.

Comments from Airport, Airline, City Officials

"Today marks a significant milestone for both Charleston International Airport and Breeze Airways as they continue to expand their air service footprint, connecting two vibrant regions with greater ease and convenience," said Elliott Summey, executive director and CEO of the Charleston County Aviation Authority.

"This expansion reflects our commitment to enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth while offering travelers more options to explore and enjoy the diverse destinations of Charleston and Connecticut," added Summey.

"Charleston has been such a popular market for Breeze, and we now offer 22 nonstop routes," said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways' Founder and CEO. "The addition of New Haven will introduce Breeze's unique premium leisure offering to a broader audience, along with convenient, affordable nonstop travel from Charleston."

"The Northeast remains a top region of visitor origin for our destination, so we're excited that Breeze's new service expands access for travelers from southern Connecticut just ahead of our unofficial start to spring around President's weekend," said Helen Hill, Chair of the Aviation Authority and CEO of Explore Charleston.

Hill added, "This will be Breeze's 22nd market with nonstop service from Charleston International, a tremendous testament to the desirability of our market and further evidence of the strong partnership we proudly share with a carrier voted again this year among the top domestic airlines in the U.S."
