DALLAS — On July 3, 2024, Airways was in attendance as luxury airline BeOnd (B4) began service between Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Male, Maldives (MLE) via Dubai (DWC).

The third and newest city to join B4's European network is the Italian one. The new route, which run twice weekly on Wednesday and Saturday, was introduced after the startup airline decided to cut back on flights to Munich (MUC) and Zurich (ZRH), the only two European airports it serves.

BeOnd has altered frequencies during the low season in the Maldives, which runs from May to September, as reported by aerotime.aero, which cites an airline representative saying the airline plans to resume MUC flights in the fall.

For now, B4 is searching for new aircraft, and the A321 is almost ready to join its fleet; however, it appears that the carrier is not interested in acquiring any A321neo due to PW engine issues.

In order to facilitate a direct trip to MLE (from MXP and ZRH), B4 is more inclined to invest financial resources in equipping the A321 with an extra fuel tank.

Exploring Airline History Volume I

David H. Stringer, the History Editor for AIRWAYS Magazine, has chronicled the story of the commercial aviation industry with his airline history articles that have appeared in AIRWAYS over two decades. Here, for the first time, is a compilation of those articles.

Subjects A through C are presented in this first of three volumes. Covering topics such as the airlines of Alaska at the time of statehood and Canada's regional airlines of the 1960s, the individual histories of such carriers as Allegheny, American, Braniff, and Continental are also included in Volume One.
