beOnd Airlines Celebrates First Year of Service

DALLAS — The world’s first premium leisure airline, beOnd Airlines (B4), celebrates its first anniversary.

The Maldivian carrier, headquartered in Dubai (DXB), has carried more than 8,000 customers since its launch a year ago. It has maintained its vision of affordable luxury, offering attractive fares at around €3,000 roundtrip, including taxes and fees.

“Our goal this year has been to exceed every expectation of our customers from the moment they book with us until they arrive in the Maldives, and we have achieved that. We are focused on growth in the market and ensuring the trust of our customers and partners as we do so.” beOnd CEO, Tero Tasika, said.

Tourism accounts for around 30% of the Maldivian GDP and over 60% of its foreign exchange. B4 estimates it has directly contributed USD$210M to the Maldivian economy, with a stated aim of 8% of the Maldivian GDP and 20% of inbound foreign exchange by 2030. The airline employs more than 200 employees between its Dubai Headquarters and the Maldives.

beOnd measures net promoter score at distinct moments on the customer journey. The airline’s onboard experience net promoter score (NPS) is 68, among the highest in the global airline industry. The overall NPS is +35 — compared to an industry average of -10. Each will improve with new developments in Dubai at Al Maktoum International Airport and Velana International Airport in Malé.

“This is only the beginning of beOnd, and we are proud of our track record to date,” Taskila said.

B4’s fleet comprises a specially designed Airbus A319—seating 44 passengers—and an Airbus A321—seating 68 passengers. Both aircraft feature premium lay-flat seating and luxurious onboard amenities, and both are in stunning hand-painted dark charcoal and copper livery, incorporating many elements of Italian design.

The premium leisure airline operates flights from various cities to Velana International Airport (MLE) in the Maldives. Current routes include Milan (MIL), Munich (MUC), Zurich (ZRH), Riyadh (RUH), and Dubai (DXB). In addition, B4 operates the fifth freedom flight from Zurich (ZRH) and Dubai (DXB) to MLE. Moreover, B4 plans to add services from five new cities in 2025

The airline also operates a successful charter business, transporting celebrities and sports teams like the Norwegian football team and the Al Ahli Football Club. While charter operations are not B4’s focus, the offer resonates in the marketplace.

beOnd has announced plans for a second operating certificate from the Middle East. This certificate will enable it to expand its network and bring its signature luxury experience to more travellers, with the vision of increasing tourism to this destination. However, it is not yet known which GCC country this will be from.

The carrier also plans to expand its fleet. It has already raised US$60 million and subsequently launched a Series A Round, which is expected to close in 2024. The investments will be used to increase its fleet, expand operations to new markets, and launch B4’s next-generation customer experience in 2025.
