Batik Air Launches Denpasar-Canberra Flights

DALLAS — Batik Air (ID), a member of the Lion Air Group, has officially launched a new route from Denpasar, Bali (DPS) to Canberra (CBR). The launch of this thrice-weekly service makes ID, the second international airline to offer flights from CBR in the last twelve months.

The inaugural flight, operated by a Boeing B737-800, touched down at CBR on June 13 at 7:00 local time. Passengers were warmly welcomed with a traditional ceremony and greetings from representatives of Canberra Airport, the ACT Government, and the Indonesian Government.

Batik Air’s Boeing 737-800 offers 162 seats, comprising 12 seats in business class and 150 in economy class. The return flight from CBR departed at 9:16 and saw passengers eager to trade the Canberra winter for the warmth and charm of Bali.

As per the schedule, flights from DPS arrive in CBR at 7:00 AM every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, departing DPS at 10:10 PM the night before. Moreover, the return flights depart CBR at 8:00 AM on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Expanding Canberra's International Reach

This new route marks ID’s fifth Australian destination and solidifies CBR’s position as a growing international hub. Fiji Airways (FJ) also offers thrice-weekly direct flights from Nadi (NAN).

"We're thrilled to welcome Batik Air to Canberra Airport. This new service offers Canberrans and those in the surrounding region not only a direct escape to beautiful Bali, but also convenient connections to a vast global network of over 50 destinations, including Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, and India," said Michael Thomson, Head of Aviation at Canberra Airport.

Batik Air's arrival presents a fantastic opportunity for Canberrans and the wider region of over a million people to access a global network of more than 50 destinations.
