Azores Airlines inaugurates Milan to Boston connection

DALLAS — Azores Airlines (S4) has inaugurated a new direct connection from Milan Malpensa (MXP) to Boston (BOS) via Ponta Delgada (PDL).

The new flight will operate with two weekly frequencies under the same flight number from Milan to Boston.

Airways attended the ceremony in Milan Malpensa, together with Aldo Schmid, Head of Aviation Marketing, Negotiations & Traffic Rights SEA Aeroporti di Milano, and Josè Roque, CFO Sata Azores Airlines.

The flight marks another transatlantic addition to Milan Malpensa’s network.

In 2024, the airport has recorded a year-on-year increase in passenger demand by 12%, adding 28 new services to its network.

In particular, Malpensa offers a record number of connections to the US East Coast, including a fifth-freedom flight operated by Emirates to New York (JFK).

In 2023, approximately 17,000 passengers travelled from Milan to Ponta Delgada, highlighting a strong leisure demand. Recently, the airline has announced the resumption of its non-stop connection from Ponta Delgada to London.
