Atlético de Madrid Stadium Now 'Riyadh Air Metropolitano'

DALLAS — Renowned Spanish football team Atlético de Madrid and Saudi Arabia’s newest soon-to-be airline, Riyadh Air (RX), have signed a nine-year naming contract for the team's home Stadium.

The new name of the football pitch, or soccer field in the US, will be “Riyadh Air Metropolitano,” as RX is the main sponsor of Atlético de Madrid, a partnership announced last year on August 10, 2023. The airline will also be the club’s naming partner until 2033, making it Atlético de Madrid’s most important sponsor.

Riyadh Air also has its logo and name displayed on Atlético de Madrid’s men’s team uniforms in all international and domestic matches. On October 20, 2024, ticket holders for the team’s next home match will be able to see RX’s brand and corporate colors displayed on the stadium's North, Northeast, and Southeast sides.

Comments from Riyadh Air CEO

Mr Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, expressed enthusiasm towards this new marketing success, describing it as “an honor to become the naming partner for the Riyadh Air Metropolitano and extend our partnership with Atlético de Madrid until 2033. Both organizations are driven to succeed at the highest level, and having our name on such an iconic stadium will elevate the awareness of Riyadh Air across the sporting world and beyond.”

Riyadh Air will commence commercial operations in the Summer of 2025, planning to operate a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet to over 100 international destinations. To help prepare for its launch, RX has already signed multiple codeshare agreements with other airlines, such as Delta Air Lines (DL).
