DALLAS — Allegiant Air (G4) has selected president Gregory C. Anderson as its new CEO and President, succeeding Maurice J. Gallagher, who will be retiring from that role effective September 1.
Anderson joined G4 in 2010 and has held numerous senior positions, including Chief Financial Officer. He is cited as essential in navigating G4 through the pandemic, "excelling in financial and operational performance along with customer satisfaction." Before joining G4, Anderson worked for U.S. Airways and Ernst & Young, where he specialized in the commercial aviation business.
Gallagher help usher G4's innovative business model, which offers nonstop flights at low costs, keeping the company relevant in the US aviation market. Anderson will join the Board in September and Gallagher will continue to serve as Executive Chairman of the Board.
In January of last year, G4 announced that its Board of Directors had accepted the resignation of its then President and Chief Operating Officer, Scott Sheldon, effective April 1, 2023.
At the time, Anderson took over as President and assumed oversight of the company's operational teams. Keny Wilper, Allegiant's Senior Vice President of OCC and Stations, took on the role of interim Chief Operating Officer.
Comments from Gallagher, Anderson
"On behalf of the board of directors, I'm thrilled to announce Greg as Allegiant's CEO," Gallagher said. "After working closely with him for the past 15 years, I have first-hand knowledge of his phenomenal leadership skills, business acumen, industry knowledge and work ethic that make him well-prepared to take on these added responsibilities.
Gallagher added, "He's incredibly well-respected within the Company and throughout the industry. In many ways, he's already doing the job. It's time to make it official. Our ability to internally grow talent such as Greg and his team is a core strength of our company."
"I'm honored and humbled to serve as Allegiant's next CEO," Anderson said. "I've had the great fortune to be mentored over many years by one of the most respected innovators and CEOs in the airline industry, Maury Gallagher. He has shown me the importance of thinking like an owner and how our team members are the foundation of our success."
"As Allegiant's founder, largest individual shareholder and CEO for nearly 25 years, I have as much interest as anyone in the future of this amazing Company," Gallagher continued. "I have complete confidence with Greg at the helm and I know he will continue to build on our success."
